The CRL Urban Product work stream has undertaken concept design study to assess the development opportunity over the Aotea station box to be located at the corner of Wellesley Street and Mayoral Drive. The study concluded that the site can accommodate two commercial towers of 16 (Tower A above the station box) and 11 storeys (Tower B). The concept design complies with the key development controls under the Operative District Plan including; Aotea height control plane, sunlight admission plane, and site intensity. The design was required to negotiate the complexity of integration with a key public transport asset and access to an important public space. The result was a signature piece of architecture that integrated comfortably into its urban context.
